The Six Pieces for Violin and Piano were composed in 1977 as a gift for Max Pollikoff, to whom they are dedicated. The first performance was given that same year by Max and me on the occasion, as it turned out, of the 54th anniversary of his New York debut at Town Hall. The work has a total playing time of approximately 16 minutes.
